L.A.O.S. (a.k.a. Large Amount Of Soul) is a relatively new band that became well known for their release ‘Fire and Water’, featured on UKF’s Drum and Bass Compilation. Recently, the band released a new track titled ‘While I Got You’ for their fans in celebration of the 12k likes milestone on the L.A.O.S. Facebook page.
Although the track begins with the typical Drum and Bass percussion right from the very beginning, it doesn’t affect the track’s ability to build up as it goes into the lyrical component. Sprinkles of notes connected with an ethereal, violin-like tune in the background progress into a completely different combination of chords and trills smoothly and effortlessly.
Then, whenever notes for the lyrical component descend, they pick up a little bit right at the end. This cyclical pattern repeats and teases its way into the chorus so that once the word ‘got’ in the phrase “while I got you’ is sung with a more high-pitched emphasis, it becomes a form of release. At that point, other elements on the track come in right on time to complete the soundscape. It’s a very well-planned and satisfying arrangement.
Every relationship has its ups and downs, but companionship motivates perseverance. This tune is bound to remind its listeners of the bittersweet sensation as they lounge on soft couches with their drinks in hand.
