It’s always an absolute pleasure to hear well-executed simplicity, and that is firmly embedded into Darren Summer’s ‘Play Dirty’. The track has a loop-worthy melody that sticks to the mind like glue. It slowly builds its layers, beginning with the bass line before slowly introducing a snippet of the chorus. An ascending chord is played with the piano in the breakdown before the main melody shows its true colours wonderfully. More importantly, the build-up is hardly annoying or reliant on loud cymbal-like noises to build up suspense. The whole track flows so naturally that heads will never stop moving. Overall, irresistibly charming.
