Jimmy Chou - Sunday Rain

The Sunday Rain EP is here, exclusively released via Trackitdown on the 25th of February. It reminds us to look at the positive side of things. Embrace the harmonious coexistence of the natural and the electronic.

Normally, one would associate good or uplifting Trance to send people up into clear skies. Well, Critical Fusion XPM – the sub-label of Komplex Sounds, has produced the unexpectedly cloudy skies for you to jump on. Are you ready for the unbelievably new Sunday Rain EP?

Canadian DJ Jimmy Chou is most recognisable for the sweet melodies he creates. He has gained support from well-known trance legends such as Arctic Moon, Indecent Noise, Aly & Fila, and many more. ‘Sunday Rain (Original Mix)’ begins with a sound that makes you want to spin and grin. At the point where it breaks down to the melody, one can practically imagine the first few raindrops fall onto the green leaves and grass. Jimmy Chou cunningly modifies the fuzzy, rain-like sound to have volumes which vary according to the tempo of the melody. Then as the percussion begins to roll, it brings the rain to a high-pitched whirlwind storm, before leading to a most enhanced, uplifting cold shower that leaves listeners with Goosebumps.

This EP also includes a remix by DJ Somna. Somna has released collaborations supported by DJs such as Armin Van Buuren and Ferry Corsten. The Somna Remix has a noticeably slower tempo and a soft, muffled introduction. The melody is accompanied by left hand octave notes, before building into a swirly improvisation of the original. The kick is snappier. In a way, it sounds like rain on a window. The electronic elements are of a lower pitch, which creates a deep, rich effect.

The Sunday Rain EP is here, released via Trackitdown on the 25th of February. It reminds us to look at the positive side of things. Embrace the harmonious coexistence of the natural and the electronic. Both tracks will peacefully hypnotise you, and the success will be as dangerous as it sounds! All hail Critical Fusion XPM! Or maybe, I should say, all rain Critical Fusion XPM!
